Cowtown Puppet Show
A mid-1950s episode of a kids' puppet show, King Calico. This appears to be produced for the Chicago/MidEast market, though with syndication, it is hard to say how widespread this show was seen. Like many of the puppet shows of the era (the biggest being Howdy Doody, though this is closer to Kukla, Fran & Ollie or Bob Clampett's Willy The Wolf and Beany and Cecil), it was by a female host, Delores, who then introduces a short, simply story. In this case, it is about King Calico, and his animal subjects like K. P. Duck, Rickles Raccoon, or Waldo Mouse. There is also a son, Mophead, that looks very similar to a Raggedy Andy doll. On point of interest is how King Calico sound fairly similar to Homestarrunner.com's The King Of Town. It seems unlikely to be more than coincidence, even if the both have their origins in Indiana.
